COBOL Developer / Legacy Systems Engineer

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to join our team and work on large-scale enterprise and legacy systems within international projects. The role focuses on maintaining, enhancing, and integrating existing COBOL-based solutions with modern distributed systems and services.

Responsibilities

• Development, maintenance, and support of applications written in COBOL

• Working with JCL, batch jobs, and large-volume data processing

• Analysis, debugging, and optimization of legacy codebases

• Integration of COBOL systems with modern platforms and services (.NET, REST, SOAP)

• Interaction with relational databases using ODBC and SQL-based interfaces

• Collaboration with .NET developers, architects, and cross-functional teams

• Participation in legacy modernization and migration initiatives

• Ensuring stability, reliability, and performance of business-critical systems

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with COBOL

• Practical experience with JCL

• Solid background working with enterprise legacy systems

• Understanding of REST and SOAP web services

• Experience with databases and ODBC connectivity

• Ability to read, analyze, and maintain large existing codebases

• English proficiency sufficient for reading technical documentation and team communication

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating with .NET / C# services

• Knowledge of SQL Server

• Experience with PowerShell scripting

• Familiarity with Bitbucket and issue tracking systems such as Jira

• Experience in modernization or migration of legacy systems
