Responsibilities:- Education: A bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.). A master's degree or additional qualifications in Law, Business, or Contract Management are highly valued.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and construction techniques.
- Legal & Contractual Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of standard contract forms (e.g., FIDIC, NEC, AIA, LOGIC) and key legal concepts like liability, indemnity, and bonds.
- Financial Acumen: Proficiency in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Negotiation: Excellent skills to secure favorable terms and resolve conflicts.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills to clearly explain complex contractual issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical Thinking: The ability to analyze complex documents and situations to identify risks and opportunities.

Contract Development & Preparation:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contract terms and conditions.
- Preparing tender documents, requests for proposal (RFPs), and invitations to bid.
- Ensuring all technical specifications, scope of work, drawings, and schedules are accurately incorporated into the contract.

Contract Administration & Management:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for all contractual matters between the client, contractors, and suppliers.
- Managing the entire lifecycle of a contract, from award to completion and close-out.
- Ensuring all parties understand and fulfill their contractual obligations.
- Maintaining meticulous records of all contract correspondence, changes, and documentation.

Risk Management:
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential commercial and contractual risks.
- Advising project teams on the risks associated with certain contract clauses (e.g., indemnity, liability, warranty).
- Ensuring contracts include appropriate insurance and bonding requirements.

Change Management & Variation Orders:
- Managing the process for any changes to the original scope of work (variations).
- Evaluating and negotiating the cost and time implications of change orders.
- Ensuring all variations are formally approved and documented to avoid disputes.

Claims Management & Dispute Resolution:
- Identifying and analyzing potential claims from contractors or clients (e.g., for delays, additional work).
- Preparing and defending against claims.
- Working with legal teams to resolve disputes through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration.

Cost Control & Payment:
- Reviewing and certifying contractor payment applications and invoices.
- Managing the financial aspects of the contract, including lump-sum, cost-plus, and unit-rate agreements.
- Ensuring final accounts are settled accurately at project completion.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness is critical, as a single word in a contract can have significant financial consequences.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive in identifying issues and developing practical solutions.
