Core Knowledge & Skills

Deep understanding of FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) regulations — including Sleeper Berth rules, 30-minute breaks, and 70-hour/8-day limits.

Experience with ELD systems (Samsara, Motive) — setup, troubleshooting, and compliance monitoring.

Ability to read and interpret driver logs — detect edits, malfunctions, falsifications, and missing data.

Familiarity with roadside inspections — understand Data Transfer (via telematics or USB/Bluetooth) and what DOT officers expect.

Knowledge of exemptions (e.g., short-haul, adverse driving conditions, yard move, personal conveyance).

Proficiency with fleet management or TMS software — syncing ELD data with internal systems.

Analytical & reporting skills — prepare HOS compliance reports, violation summaries, and audit findings.

Technical Skills

• Experience in data correction and log auditing (identify false logs, edit reasons, annotations).

• Basic Excel / Google Sheets for tracking compliance KPIs.

• Understanding of GPS tracking systems and geofencing logic.

• Ability to handle driver onboarding to ELDs (device installation, driver app training, troubleshooting).

Responsibilities

• Monitor ELD dashboards daily for violations or missing logs.

• Audit and correct logs according to FMCSA standards.

• Communicate with drivers to fix unassigned drive time, missing logs, or malfunction codes.

• Train new drivers on proper use of ELDs and HOS rules.

• Maintain weekly compliance reports and coordinate with Safety and Fleet departments.

• Support internal audits and DOT compliance reviews.

Education & Experience

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in logistics, safety, or compliance.

• Experience: 1–2 years in a trucking company (Safety, Compliance, or Fleet department).

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and problem-solving with drivers.

• Attention to detail, discipline, and ability to work under deadlines.

• Team-oriented — ability to coordinate with Safety, Dispatch, and HR departments.
