Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring proper training, efficient workflow, and adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef in the creation and development of menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and innovative culinary techniques.
- Oversee the preparation and cooking of all menu items, ensuring consistency in portion sizes and presentation.
- Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering and maintaining stock levels, minimizing waste, and ensuring the availability of ingredients for daily service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in all kitchen areas, adhering to health and safety guidelines and ensuring equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in monitoring and managing food costs, labor costs, and other kitchen-related expenses to ensure profitability.
- Step in for the Head Chef when necessary, leading the kitchen team during busy periods or in the absence of the Head Chef.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere in the kitchen, encouraging collaboration, communication, and professional development among staff.
- Requirements:
- Culinary degree or equivalent certification in food preparation or culinary arts.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a kitchen team.
- Creativity and passion for developing innovative dishes and menus.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in managing inventory, ordering, and controlling food costs.
- Experience working in the international schools
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a professional kitchen, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience working in the international schools is a big plus
- Proven experience in high-volume establishments (preferred).
- Experience in menu development, kitchen management, and staff training.
