Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Dean of Faculty at MU University. The Dean of Faculty will be responsible for curriculum development, teaching, education, strategic planning, and research. Dean is an academic leader who has academic, programmatic, managerial, and fiscal responsibilities for a faculty. The dean verifies the adequacy of instruction, monitors academic integrity, confers degrees, and is responsible for student recruitment, admission, and academic progress. The role involves overseeing the academic programs, faculty development, and student engagement to ensure high standards of education.

The Dean is expected to be accountable for the following:

  • To provide academic leadership for the academic staff at the university to ensure the provision of high-quality courses.
  • To be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and research within the Faculty, fulfilling the requirements of MUU and ensuring absolute integrity and consistency of assessment judgements. This will include all elements of the academic assessment process, including moderation and assessment at MUU and the overall academic liaison with the Faculties at MUU.
  • To develop and enhance the curriculum in all subjects’ areas of the Faculty to meet the needs of modern Uzbek society and international requirements within the framework of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula in the UK, Europe and the international community
  • To develop and implement a professional development program for Academic staff, reflecting the need to enhance the quality of the courses and the personal interest of staff. To support in general the professional needs of staff as teachers and researchers.
  • To be responsible for the delivery, development, and enhancement of the courses validated by the university and to manage the overall quality assurance, and process of validation of the courses.
  • To be responsible for the Research Strategy of the Faculty and the development of the Academic and Scholarship profile of the Faculty.
  • To be responsible for the Teaching and Learning Strategy of the University
  • To assist in the promotion of the generation of income from all sources to support the work of the University in line with the MUU strategic objectives

Requirements:

  • PhD or DBA in Business or Education with at least 5 years of work experience in higher education
  • Experience in policy, strategy planning and curriculum development in the higher education context
  • Experience in preparing detailed management reports and procedural documentation
  • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders and manage both operational and academic matters to pervade an atmosphere of scholarship and academic vigor
  • A forward-looking and positive outlook with a strong commitment to service improvement
  • Strong leadership, Decision-making, Problem-solving Communication Time management and Delegation skills and substantial experience in leading a team
