KRAs

Must be keeping optimal levels of inventory:

Planning of timely order of materials as per inventory management policy

There must be zero shortages of any imported raw and packing materials and local materials

The inventory in value and no of days must comply with the policy inventory policy for every product and on an aggregate basis. in no case will the inventory exceed more than 5% to 7% of the number of days. the inventory must be reported on a weekly and monthly basis.

the inventory of finished goods and APIs and excipients and packing materials must have almost zero expiries.

Expiries must be monitored regularly and every week expiries should be published and circulated to the relevant department heads and the General Director

Job Description/Task Management of the Position

Planning Manager is responsible for monitoring and managing direct materials and forecasting production levels for materials that are needed. This includes tracking inventory delivery performance and response time, as well as handling capacity planning.

The person in this role will be the primary point of contact and works closely with factory, production, sales, and logistics colleagues to ensure that plans are aligned with demand and supply. General responsibilities are:

• Plan both short- and long-term Materials Requirement Planning to align supply and demand to support inventory needs
• Monitor weekly and monthly production plans.
• Monitor movement of materials through purchasing, storage, and production
• Set preferred stock levels to prevent shortage or excess inventory.
• Prepare detailed reports relating to MRP, back orders, and schedules.
• Create classification of high value and low value materials
• Conducting inventory counts as per procedures set.
• Ensure that material scheduling strategy and processes are in place and work effectively in order to ensure material supply meets production requirements with minimum stock levels, whilst optimizing costs
• Take ownership of material planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take any follow up actions especially in the event of material shortages that affect production
• Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions
• Manage inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place
• Seek and recommend solutions to overcome issues arising in order to meet production requirements and address operational risks
• Design, develop and implement flexible solutions to aid business efficiency, drive process improvements and add value
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure that professional and consistent materials planning processes are applied across the business
• Ensure that any Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) or IT system in place is effective and that data is accurate and up to date and resolve any issues as required
• Investigate and implement system enhancement initiatives
• Ensure the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and inventory accuracy at all times and manage and control inventory levels and movements
• Take overall responsibility for obsolete parts process and ensure business is left with minimum liability and minimal waste
• Ensure strategic and operational information, reports and metrics are available to share with others in the business as and when required
• Report on achievement of targets and identify any corrective action

Educational Background

Economics, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management.

Type of industry background

He should have preferably worked in pharmaceutical manufacturing, if not, then from manufacturing using dependent demand items and discrete demand items.

Work Experience

From 3 to 5 years in Planning Management, Inventory Management in pharma

Automation experience

Advance user of Excel, 1C or ERP

Level of MRP

Initially MRP I (Materials Requirement Planning) with further upgrading to MRP II (Manufacture Resource Planning)
